It was like the shop was repelling making a sale altogether. Now they just had to hope or pray the customers would magically come back. There were 6 customers lost in the span of 20 or so minutes.
I mentally added that up daily.

This got my marketing mind racing. I wonder if the owners know all these opportunities were vanishing right out from under them? They had spent all this time, effort and money to get them there… only for the staff to just let them go. If I was them... my blood would be boiling from all the lost potential profits, they could have earned.
Here's another one I noticed: I had just dropped about 3 grand on a rifle and accessories in one swoop.
💵 I bought some bulk ammo for it.
💵 I bought an EOTECH and a few tools.
💵 A new Daniel Defense. (This is a month after my last gun purchase, mind you.)
Now I get it, not a lot of markups in gun sales. But... I bought accessories too. You’d think I’d be someone they would want to keep coming back, right? Yet… guess what happened?
Nothing.
⛔ A big fat nothing.
⛔ No follow up.
⛔ No attempt to get repeat sales.
⛔ I haven’t heard anything from them since my last purchase.
Since then, I’ve bought Bulk Ammo. I’ve bought knives and other accessories. I signed up for some training. I’m also looking at getting a new carry pistol and hunting rifle.
Here I am, a premium accessories buyer and they didn't even try to keep me coming back.
The key takeaway here: I did all those extra purchases somewhere
else, even though that specific shop sold every bit of what I bought.
Why did I go somewhere else? Because they did nothing.
To be honest, they didn’t make me mad or anything, I just simply forgot about them as an option and bought elsewhere.
You see that shop did nothing to build loyalty. Even though they had a cool location, there was no follow up to remind me they exist… or even care about getting me back. A BIG mistake I see all over. I’ve bought a lot of guns, ammo and gear over the years. In my own town, I’ve literally shopped at every store for something.
Yet out of the 20 or so locations locally, I noticed a huge commonality among them:
They all seemed to make several sales, marketing and
advertising mistakes that dramatically limited their potential sales.
None have real marketing systems that generate new leads or build a customer base.
None have systems in place that nurtures prospects to buy that need a little convincing or time.
None had a system that works their customers for repeat sales or even follows up.
Zero had a process to encourage customers to refer their friends or review.
None tried to build a relationship on social media or posted interesting content besides new items to buy. (In fact, most of them think they can’t advertise on social when they really can… if you know how.)
It was all left up to chance. They all relied on one thing.... The ol' hope and pray model.
Consider yourself:
❓ How many reviews do you personally leave... without being asked?
